“There’s a game on Staten Island called ‘Bullshit’; I’m from Staten Island and I call Bullshit.”
I’ve used this line a lot the last 15 or so years — especially in the last 8 years calling out all the bullshit from the propaganda media, the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris regime, the COVID vaccine madness, the globalist leaders in Canada, France, UK and across the globe, the manufactured wars and on and on.
The line came from this movie — a 2003 romantic-comedy and box-office hit directed by Donald Petrie, from a script by Kristen Buckley, Brian Regan, and Burr Steers — and starring Kate Hudson and Matthew Matthew McConaughey.
I grew up in Staten Island in the 1970’s through early 1980’s and never heard of this game — but when I got married and moved back to Staten Island from Brooklyn in the mid 1990’s, my daughter played this game with her nieces when she was a child in the late 90’s.
Plot
Kate Hudson plays a writer for a woman’s magazine who witnesses her friend lose another relationship, blaming it on her looks, and determines to write an article, “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”, to prove that it is her needy behavior that is the cause.
Meanwhile, Matthew McConaughey is a young advertising executive who makes a bet with his boss at a bar that he can make any woman fall in love with him — if he can, the boss will give him a prestigious ad campaign for a diamond company. McConaughey’s work rivals, also at the bar, happen to know Hudson and are aware of her story, and introduce the two of them at the bar. And thus kicks off the romantic comedy.
